UPDATE POST: 8/10/24 It's been a crazy year so far! Fishing all the Basssmaster Opens in 2024 has been a challenging but rewarding adventure for Josh! The learning curve of fishing lakes that he's never been on has been fun but also difficult to learn in the short time frame the anglers are allowed to fish before the tournament begins.
In December of 23 Josh injured his upper back and found out he had a herniated disc causing severe pain down his left arm. Josh continued to fish all year with this pain and while fishing in Oklahoma on Lake Eufaula he caused more damage and herniated another disc which caused pain down his right arm as well. That was the final decision that he needed to stop fishing and get things fixed up. Josh had a cervical fusion done in July and is now in the healing stage. Good news is the pain is gone although his right arm is still a little numb but the doctor says he can fish the next event on Leech Lake in Minnesota. He did miss the St. Claire Bassmaster Open, which he really wanted to fish, but was not possible with the pain that was occuring. Hoping to finish the season strong with 3 more Bassmaster Opens left in 2024!
UPDATE POST: 10/24/23 "Absolutely amazing" is the only way to describe the events that unfolded for Josh at the BASSMASTER BASS Nation National Championship on Lake Hartwell this past week. Josh sacked up a 3-day total of 37lbs that landed him in 3rd place, which in turn punched his ticket to the 2024 BASSMASTER Classic!!! The Classic will be held on Grand Lake of the Cherokee's this upcoming March! Devil's Lake was fishing well with jumbo bags of walleye put up by the top sticks in the walleye world, which made for exciting weigh-ins each day! Josh's strong performance at the Championship escalated him up the AOY ranks to finish 22nd overall for the 2023 NWT season. He is now busy prepping his Ranger Z521R with bass tackle for the trip to South Carolina for the BASS Nation National Championship held on Lake Hartwell!
